Establishing No Anchoring Areas to Protect Coral Reefs

This Web site is intended to help coral reef and marine protected area managers develop, draft and submit proposals to the U.N. International Maritime Organization (IMO) to establish no anchoring areas. No anchoring areas are specially designated by the IMO to protect coral reefs from harm related to international shipping.

Global Socioeconomic Monitoring Initiative

This Web site provides information on the social, cultural and economic foundation of communities that rely on coastal resources. It is a cooperative project between the World Commission on Protected Areas, the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network, and NOAA.

Marine Protected Area Management Effectiveness Initiative

This Web site provides information about the initiative, offers tools to marine protected area (MPA) practitioners, and facilitates a learning network among MPAs to improve management effectiveness.
