Competing demands for coastal resources. Rising visitor and resident populations. Hurricanes and tsunamis. Life isn’t all palm trees and sunny weather for community leaders.
The NOAA Coastal Services Center provides coastal communities with specialized products and services that might otherwise be unavailable, everything from interactive maps that illustrate climate change impacts to training courses that teach program evaluation. The goal is to keep coastal communities and their economies resilient and strong.
The Center’s primary expertise package is focused on geospatial data, training, and social science. But when it comes to meeting constituent needs, the Center also reaches across NOAA (and other organizations and federal agencies when appropriate) to give local and state organizations easy access to a full breadth of services.
Center products and services are delivered through the Digital Coast, a powerful platform that provides not only the data, but also the related tools, training, and information needed for the data to become truly useful.
