On December 3, NOS’s Assistant Administrator Dr. Richard Spinrad hosted the first Ocean Future Roundtables on marine transportation, maritime safety, and charting and navigation issues. In addition to maritime and related environmental concerns, the meeting also addressed “cross-cutting” topics, including NOS’s evolving mission, NOAA’s strategic plan, and ocean and coastal observation and modeling systems. Five NOS Office Director attended, along with 18 constituents representing the private sector, maritime associations, environmental groups, ports and vessel operators.
