The Walter B. Jones Memorial and NOAA Excellence Awards in Coastal and Ocean Resource ManagementWinners of 2008The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2008 Walter B. Jones and NOAA Awards for Excellence in Coastal and Ocean Management. These awards celebrate and recognize coastal stewards, graduate students, state and local governments, non-governmental organizations, excellence in diversity, business leadership, coastal, estuarine, and marine management. The winners are of the 2008 Walter B. Jones and NOAA Awards for Excellence in Coastal and Ocean Management are: WALTER B. JONES MEMORIAL AWARDS Coastal Steward of the Year Lynne Z. Hale Excellence in Local Government Nueces County, TX Excellence in Coastal and Marine Graduate Study Jill Hendon NOAA EXCELLENCE AWARDS Susan Snow-Cotter Award for Excellence in Ocean and Coastal Resource Management Kathleen Leyden Excellence in Business Leadership J&B Aquafood, NC Nongovernmental Organization of the Year Island Institute, ME A ceremony to honor the award winners took place on February 27, 2008, at 5p.m. in the Rayburn Gold Room (room 2168).
