Case Study: Oil Slick Emergency
"Once the lesson was completed, it was evident that students had a firm understanding of how and why we clean up oil spills. All students were able to fully explain the negative impact of oil spills on our environment and describe the various methods in which scientists clean up oil spills. By looking at the pros and cons of each method, students realized that often there is no one “right” answer, and students must look at several factors in making major environmental management decisions. NOAA’s Spill Tools software and online education resources were instrumental in aiding students in their research, and provided a wealth of information on oil spills, surpassing the information included in our textbook."
